Typical cost per square foot to hire a contractor
{ Prices will vary depending upon location & economy }

  • Costs listed below are for wiring new residential
    and light commercial buildings with Romex cable,
    assuming circuit lengths are averaging 40 feet.

    If flex cable is required, add $10.50 for 15 amp circuits and
    $30 for 20 amp circuits.

  • No fixtures or appliances are included except as noted.
    Work done on second and higher floors may cost 25% more.

    Rule of thumb: Total cost for electrical work, performed
    by a qualified subcontractor, per SqFt of floor area includes
    service entrance, outlets, switches, basic lighting
    fixtures and connecting appliances.

    Lighting Fixtures Only (no wiring)
    $1.25 square foot
